I am absolutely passionate about Yoga, it’s true meaning and message

I first came across yoga at 17 and I have never looked back. That means I’ve been practising since 1983, teaching since 1992 and teaching teachers since 2000. I’ve been lucky to study with some of the most influential teachers in the west including Louisa Sear, Dena Kingsberg, Alan Finger and Mark Whitwell as well as immersing myself in the study and assimilation of the classical system of Knowledge called Vedanta, in the lineage of Swami Dayananda.

In 2005 after being introduced through friends I met my now life partner, John Weddepohl. When we first met we lived over 10,000 km’s away and weren’t sure we would physically meet. But life has a funny way of bringing about the Miraculous.

 

In 2011 we taught our first retreat together combining Yoga and Self Knowledge. We’ve been travelling and teaching together ever since.

In a class I share pranayama, asana, meditation, mudras and mantras from both the Laya and Kriya Yoga tradition. I credit my passion for meditation and Tantra to my mentor Alan Finger and my deepened understanding of pranayama to John, who initiated me into the tradition of the ancient Tamil Siddhas.

My life hasn’t just been all yoga. I was a professional dancer from a young age, and have trained as a Steiner educator, teaching in both in Australia and New York City. I’m a singer/ songwriter, have produced award winning CD’s of devotional music and am a published poet and best selling author for my book, Yoga for Diabetes, How to Manage your Health with Yoga and Ayurveda. I write for many online and in print magazines including Australian Yoga Journal and Australian Yoga Life. and am a mother, partner and amateur photographer and film maker.

What Style of Yoga Do I Teach?

The deepest meaning of Yoga is Oneness. Yoga practice is the reminder. You are already perfect and whole as you are. When we open our bodies and calm our minds and emotions through the different practices of yoga we discover that stillness is always there. It just seems elusive in the busyness of everyday life.

In all my yoga classes, I teach a style of yoga called ISHTAM. ISHTAM combines asana, pranayama, meditation, mudra and mantra with a foundation in the healing science of Ayurveda and the philosophy of Vedanta to support you to remember yourself not just on the mat but in your everyday life. ISHTAM is the final resolution of yoga. Your SELF
